Official Visit (Paid)

Unofficial Visit (Nonpaid)

  • Visit financed in whole or part by college

  • Can provide meals for PSA and PSAs relatives or legal guardian(s)

  • One visit limitation

  • Cannot visit before June 15 immediately preceding the PSAs junior year in HS

  • Length of visit cannot exceed 48 hours 

  • Can provide lodging. Must be similar to accomodations provided to regular students and within a 30-mile radius of the campus. Only one hotel room can be provided, institutions cannot pay costs resulting from the additional occumpants for other rooms.

  • Institution can pay the PSAs actual round trip transportation costs for his or her official visit to campus is used. Use of limousine or helicopter for such transportation is prohibited.

  • A PSAs friends, relative or legal guardian(s) may receive cost-free transportation to visit a member istitution's campus only by accompanying the PSA at the time the PSA travels in an automobile to visit campus.

  • Institution or reprsentatives of its athletics intereest shall not provide an automobile for use during the official visit by the PSA or by a student host.

  • Maximum of five complimentary admissions to a home athletics event. No special seating arrangements during the event (i.e. press box, special seating box(es), or bench)

  • Cannot provide complimentary or reduced-cost admission for a conference tournament, NCAA championship (all rounds) or other postseason contests.

  • Special on-campus parking is allowed

  • A maximum of $30 per day can be used for entertainment purposesof PSA and PSAs relatives or legal guardians. Excludes the cost of meals and cannot use for purchasing souvenirs or other institutional mementos. Money cannot be provided to PSA. Host or coach must handle transactions.

  • Must have an official or unofficial transcript on file with school (or NCAA EC); registered with NCAA EC

  • Visit paid by PSA or parents/guardian(s)

  • Can provide only 1 meal to PSA and PSA relatives or legal guardian(s), on or off campus in the locale of the institution

  • Unlimited number of visitations permitted

  • Cannot visit before June 15 immediately preceding the PSAs junior year in HS

  • Not a time limit technically, limited by what you can/cannot provide

  • Lodging in any capacity (even staying with student-athletes) cannot be provided by the institution. If a PSA is lodging in the dorm they can only do so if the PSA pays the regular institutional rate for such lodging.

  • Payment of transportation expenses is not permissible

  • Institution or representatives of its athletics interests shall not provide an automobile for use during the official visit by the PSA or by student host.

  • Does not need to have transcripts on file or be registered with NCAA EC

  • When on a visit have a list of questions prepared to ask coaches.

    • Study hall and academic support

    • daily schedule

    • where do they see you fitting in on the field

    • how many athletes are they bringing in for your class

    • coaching philosophy, hitting philosophy 

  • Talk to current athletes and ask them how they like the school, campus, coaches, team culture

  • Try not to get caught up in the moment. Take time when you get home to discuss pros and cons of the school, campus, softball, money situation.
